160 Fire Evacuation Procedure

1. Sound the Alarm
All staff / teachers should know how to operate the Alarm Bell and should use it immediately on discovery of a fire outbreak. The alarm must be audible throughout the building and sounded as long as possible or until everybody evacuates.

2. Evacuation of the Premises
When the Alarm Bell sounds, all the staff / teachers should lead all the children to evacuate the building immediately in a clam and orderly manner through the nearest safe Exit. Should as specific Exit be cut off or rendered unusable by smoke or fire, alternative Exit should be used. The staff / teachers must take along the Attendance Register / Health Check Record, in the classroom / office, during evacuation.

Re-entry should be forbidden unless permitted by a Singapore Civil Defence Force's Officer (SCDF), or in the case of a fire drill, by a Person-In-Charge.

3. Calling the Singapore Civil Defence Force
The SCDF should be immediately notified upon a fire outbreak at all times. The emergency telephone number to SCDF is 995.

4. Assembly Points
All staff / teachers and children should proceed to the Assembly Points (External passageway or playground / turfing). The Assembly Points are indicated in the Fire Evacuation Plan of the building.

5. Roll Call
At the Assembly Points, a roll call (for all staff / teachers and children) must be carried out to check that everyone is accounted for. Any person who cannot be accounted for, must be reported at once to the Person-in-Charge together with his/her last known whereabouts in the building. Thus, it is important to ensure that the Attendance Register / Health Check Record are always completed and kept up-to-date.

6. Attaching Fire
As the first few minutes of a fire outbreak are very crucial, it is important for the staff / teachers to extinguish the fire at its early stage by using the fire extinguisher.
