Are You Eating
(to the tune of "Are You Sleeping")
Are you eating, are you eating
Healthy foods, healthy foods?
For your body needs them, for your body needs them
Everyday, everyday

Carrots, Peas, and Broccoli
(Sung to: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star“)
Carrots, Peas, and Broccoli,
Vegetables are good for me.
For my snack and in my lunch,
Veggie sticks are great to munch.
Carrots, Peas, and Broccoli,
Vegetables are good for me

Happy Food Song
(can be sung to the tune of If You Are Happy And You Know It)

  • Teach children the Happy Food Song (sung to the tune, "If You're Happy and You Know It") and demonstrate the actions.
  • Give each child a Food Model and identify their food.
  • Sing the Happy Food Song and insert the name of one of the Food Models at the appropriate spot.
  • Have the child with the Food Model hold it up for all to see. Have the rest of the group sing and perform the activity.
For example:
If there's cheese and you know it, stomp your feet,
If there's cheese and you know it, stomp you feet,
If you're cheese and you know it, hold your food card up and show us,
If there's cheese and you know it, stomp you feet.
  • Substitute "jump up and down," "touch your toes," "nod your head," and other activities that use large motor skills for "stomp your feet." Feel free to improvise with other actions and gestures.

If I had a Bagel

(sung to the tune "If I Had A Hammer")
If I had a bagel.
I’d eat it in the morning.
I’d eat it in the evening,
All over this land.
I’d eat it for breakfast,
I’d eat it for supper,
I’d eat it with all my friends and sisters and brothers,
All, over this land.

Little Donuts
(sung to "Ten Little Indians")
One little, two little, three little donuts
Four little, five little, six little donuts
Seven little, eight little, nine little donuts
Ten donuts in the bakery shop

Five Little Donuts
finger play
Down around the corner, at the bakery shop
There were five little donuts with sugar on top (hold up five fingers).
Along came _____ (child’s name), all alone
And she/he took the biggest one home.
Continue the verses until all the donuts are gone.

One Potato, Two Potato

One potato, two potato, three potato, four
Five potato, six potato, seven potato, more .
(Hold up one finger at a time as you count. Clap on more.)

Snack Song

(sung to "Down By The Station")
Around our snack table
Early in the morning,
We get lots of good things for our day.
Food we need to help us grow and play
Chew, chew, crunch, crunch,
Down it goes!
